To put it politely, the Great British weather can be inconsistent. One day it is twenty five degrees in the shade, and the next it is blowing gales with some hail thrown in for good measure. The weather this June is supposed to excellent, and we’ve already had some glimpses of the heat wave that should be taking place. If the weather looks to be promising, make sure you take advantage of the great outdoors for some fabulous outdoor, Father’s Day fun.

For this Square Foot Gardening I am keep plans up-to-date on a spreadsheet, something I may share at some time. The idea being is that Square Foot Gardening is intensive growing, using space as soon as it is available to your best advantage. It was been mostly cold and wet these last days which has meant we had not been out to mix up the Mel's Mix for the second square foot garden. In the meantime we have planted 16 carrots in the first square foot bed and in a couple of weeks we will repeat that for a number of squares. Tonight however, it was warm and sunny and being a Friday with no school the next day meant Tom and Jack could help once again. They were more than happy to help and soon got stuck in. I never did get ....
After a week of sunny days we seem to have started a phase of cold and rain, which is all a bit of a pity. We did have a little bit of warmth and sun and so we went out to mix and fill the first square foot bed.
Here we have 100 litres of vermiculite, 100 litres of peat moss and around 100 litres of two different types of bought compost. ....
