Saving money on activities for the Easter break

Spring is finally here- the sun is shining (well, has been shining), the birds are singing and there are plenty of bank holidays to look forward to. If you have kids you’ll be either excited or dismayed about the two week Easter holiday and will probably be looking for cheap activities to keep the little ones busy and active.  Luckily, moneysupermarket have been working hard to make all of the best days out vouchers available, including days out at theme parks and restaurant vouchers to take the edge off the price.

Drayton Manor

Drayton Manor has become very popular over the past few years as its range of rides like Apocalypse, G-Force and Shockwave, plus Thomas Land has given us major reasons to visit this fantastic theme park. The beauty of visiting the theme park this month is the fact that moneysupermarket has one of the best Drayton Manor vouchers on the market; 2 for 1 on admission plus £5 off a family meal at the park. These discounts can save you a lot of cash, which we’re sure will be welcome as a day out like this can be very expensive.

Alton Towers

Alton Towers is one of the nation’s most popular theme parks, with good reason. With adrenaline fuelled rides like Nemesis, Rita and Th13teen it’s easy to see why thousands of people visit the park each year.  At the moment you can get 2 for 1 on admission to Alton Towers, but be quick; this only lasts for one week! You can also get free child entry when one adult pays full price to get in for the duration of April and the beginning of May. If you’re heading to Alton Towers this month be sure to take full advantage of these vouchers.

Chessington World of Adventures
Chessington is another extremely popular theme park, mainly because of its range of exhilarating rides and attractions, like Dragon’s Fury, Kobra and Remeses Revenge. You can head to Chessington World of Adventures this week and get 2 for 1 on entry this week too, but like the Alton Towers voucher it only lasts one week, so be quick!

Even cheaper Easter activity ideas…

  • Paint some eggs. Painting and decorating eggs will really get the kids into the Easter spirit and it can be very cheap to do as well. Get out any stray card, water colours and crafts materials and let the kids get creative. You could then make a nice Easter centrepiece with their handy work.
  • Make an Easter bonnet. This is the classic Easter activity, and schools usually put this on as a competition over the Easter period. Encourage your child to get involved as it’s a great way to get creative and to get into the spirit of Easter.
  • Easter Egg hunt. For Easter Sunday, hide the kid’s Easter eggs around the house or the garden and see how long it takes them to find them all. You could even set up a ‘clues’ system to help them find them. This will be a near enough free activity if you use the eggs that relatives buy them- kids seem to get a large amount of them each year!
  • Bake some Easter cakes using Easter egg chocolate. As mentioned above, kids seems to get numerous Easter eggs off friends and family, so put all of the chocolate to use by making chocolate based treats like rice crispy cakes, cupcakes and whatever else you can think of. Kids love to cook, especially if it means a treat for them!
